      So I get paid the standard amount for a phd student in the UK. As a salary, it’s not the best but it’s certainly enough to live on whilst studying!

      I get pretty close to the national average, so definitely a reasonable amount. Admittedly I made a lot more as a software engineer- science may not be the career for making millions, but the job satisfaction is the more important thing!

      Above £60k per year.

      Like Eleanor said, I get the standard amount for a PhD student in the UK. But if you teach alongside this you can get paid a bit more!
